For those unfamiliar with these events, a Renaissance festival or faire is a themed event based on a historic period. The idea is to feel as though you are at a festival set back in those times. Of course, the historical accuracy varies widely from festival to festival, and there are also 'fantasy faires' which aren't historically accurate at all and include such other elements such as elves.
